As South Arts begins our Fiscal Year 2025, we are excited to welcome four new members to our Board of Directors! South Arts' board consists of 30 leaders from within our nine-state region and beyond who generously donate their time and skills in pursuit of the South Arts mission: advancing Southern vitality through the arts.
Meet the newest members of South Arts' Board of Directors:
Moni Basu (Atlanta, GA) is the director of the low-residency MFA in Narrative Nonfiction and the Charlayne Hunter-Gault writer in residence at the University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. She is an award-winning reporter and editor, and has worked at various media outlets, among them CNN and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Basu has served as an editor for The Ground Truth Project and the Bitter Southerner and has taught at the Poynter Institute.
Yvahn Martin (Oakland, CA) is an expert digital marketer, brand manager, and e-commerce technology professional with over twenty years of business management experience ranging from small businesses to Fortune 100 companies. She completed an MBA at NYU Stern Langone School of Business and undergraduate studies in Dance and Women's Studies at Newcomb College of Tulane University.
Meg Reid (Spartanburg, SC) is the Executive Director of the Hub City Writers Project in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and the Publisher of Hub City Press, where she finds and champions new and overlooked voices from the American South. She holds an MFA in Nonfiction from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and was a Publishers Weekly Star Watch 2021 Honoree.
Keith Summerour (Atlanta, GA) is the founder of Summerour Architects, which has undertaken numerous projects across the United States with a concentration in the Southeast region. The firm specializes in designing both residential and commercial properties, and it has been involved in the creation of five Relais & Chateaux properties.

In addition to welcoming our newest members, please join us in thanking Sonya Halpern of Georgia, Bill Medich of South Carolina, Nigel Redden of Connecticut, and Dennis Scholl of Florida for their time, dedication, and service on the South Arts Board of Directors. Their contributions have been instrumental in advancing the work of South Arts as well as the creative sector of our region as a whole.
