Thandiwe Shiphrah is a multidisciplinary artist who writes for print, performance, and electronic media. She is an active member of Nashville’s arts community and has presented her poems, stories and visual art in venues around the country. Her work has been published online, in print journals and anthologies, and through public transit projects in two cities. In 2002, Thandiwe established the Line Breaks Literary Reading Series and served both as its curator and host for 18 years. She continues her longstanding support of emerging and established writers by offering readings and workshops that build skills and broaden social and professional networks. She is a recipient of the 2022 TN Arts Commission Individual Artist Fellowship for Children’s Literature and a 2011-12 Jubilation Foundation Teaching Artist Fellowship. Thandiwe frequently collaborates with other artists, educators, non-profit executives and faith leaders to create dynamic arts-based learning environments that uplift and inspire. She is currently working on a novella in verse for young readers. For more information about her contributions to the literary arts, visit www.thandiweshiphrah.com.
