Reyna Rodriguez

Reyna Mejia Rodriguez is an embroiderer from Morgantown, North Carolina. Reyna practices sewing and embroidery in the style of traditional Guatamalan clothing (quipil and corte). When Reyna was 15, her mother taught her to sew these traditional textiles, and now Reyna is teaching her two daughters. In Morgantown, Reyna is the only local resident preserving the cultural tradition of hand crafting guipiles, Guatemala traditional blouses, and is excited to teach and preserve this important craft to those in her community.
