Kimberly S. Love was born and raised in the Appalachian foothills of Huntsville, Alabama. She left home to study literature and language at Tuskegee University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She continued her studies at the University of Virginia (UVA) with a focus on twentieth-century American literature and African American literature. Her career as an instructor began at UVA, teaching composition and literature courses and leading African American Studies sections. She received a PhD in English Language and Literature from UVA and accepted a job as a professor of English at Williams College. Her published work has appeared in Hypatia: A Journal of Feminist Philosophy, Root Work Journal, and Auburn Avenue. An essay is forthcoming in The Southern Quarterly. Currently, Love teaches in the English department at Alabama A&M University in her hometown.
