In fall of 2023, Colaborativa La Milpa member organization Raíces Emma Erwin will offer El Diplomado, a ten-week folkloric dance intensive for Latiné youth ages 14-20, culminating in a holiday performance. Participants will learn the cultural history of each dance and receive program certification to mentor younger dancers in folkloric classes as paid assistant youth instructors. The lead teaching artist is Daniel Vega, from Michoacan, Mexico, founder of the Mexican Folkloric Ballet of Asheville, North Carolina.
