Candace Mullins is a weaver, grower, and Appalachian food systems advocate who lives with her partner on their farm, Cedar Creek Farm, in Somerset, Kentucky. She began her weaving practice eight years ago after taking an Appalachian weaving course in Berea, Kentucky. Her practice is centered on her connection to place and land, focusing on the relationship to the materials she works with, including natural fibers sourced from their farm or local farms. She loves to weave using Appalachian overshot patterns, envisioning cloth as a portal in her work.
