About the Artist
Since moving to Minneapolis in 2005, Zacc Harris has gained a reputation as one of the area's top guitarists, being named 2017 Twin Cities Best Jazz Artist by the City Pages. He performs in a host of creative projects including the Atlantis Quartet. As its co-leader of Atlantis Quartet, the band is described as “… Twin Cities modern jazz renegades shift nimbly from a punk-jazz aesthetic to ECM-ish sensitivity...startlingly original stuff."
This tour features the Zacc Harris Group which includes Harris alongside: John Raymond (trumpet, flugelhorn); Brandon Wozniak (tenor saxophone); Bryan Nichols (piano); Chris Bates (bass); and JT Bates (drums).
In Fall of 2021, Harris will release SMALL WONDERS on Shifting Paradigm. The album features 9 new originals and sextet with John Raymond, Brandon Wozniak, Bryan Nichols, Chris Bates and JT Bates. Though this group has never toured together before, all members have past tour experience. Downbeat Magazine "Rising Star" trumpeter John Raymond has toured extensively through the US, EU and Japan with his group Real Feels featuring Gilad Hekselman and Colin Stranahan. Tenor saxophonist Brandon Wozniak has toured with Harris in Atlantis Quartet and with Dave King's Trucking Company alongside saxophonist Chris Speed. Pianist Bryan Nichols is a McKnight winning artist who has performed with luminaries like Nicole Mitchell and Walter Smith III. Bassist Chris Bates is also a member of Atlantis Quartet and has long been a first call bassist in the Twin Cities. Finally, JT Bates has been a first call drummer on the national scene the past few years, touring extensively with Phil Cook, Big Red Machine and Bon Iver, and jazz artists like Craig Taborn and Tony Malaby. He also received a Grammy for playing on Taylor Swift's Folklore.
