Carlos Vega Jazz Quintet

The Carlos Vega Jazz Group emerged from the musical connections I cultivated in Chicago, Illinois, starting in 2007. Having relocated from Miami to pursue a graduate music degree at the University of Illinois, I swiftly became integrated into the vibrant Chicago Latin and Jazz scenes. This led me to collaborate with some of Chicago's most talented musicians, performing at renowned venues and events. The positive musical experiences I encountered in Chicago prompted me to make a significant decision in 2015 — to record my inaugural release as a bandleader. For this project, I enlisted four of Chicago's finest jazz musicians: Victor Garcia on trumpet, Stu Mindeman on piano, Josh Ramos on bass, and Xavier Breaker on drums.

Presently, I have produced three albums, featuring a total of 31 original compositions performed by the same talented ensemble. These CDs are available on the Origin Records website. Notably, my recordings received positive reviews, including a 4-star review from DownBeat Magazine in June 2016 and similar acclaim from All About Jazz.
