About the Artist
Formed in 2014, Brenda Nicole Moorer’s band has performed extensively throughout metro Atlanta and South Georgia. She’s headlined the Next Generation stage at the Atlanta Jazz Festival and is a Winner of Creative Loafing’s Best Soul & Jazz vocalist award. This ensemble features Brenda Nicole Moorer, vocals, Kenny Banks Jr., piano, Rhett Huffman, synths/organ/Minimoog, Billy Thornton, double bass, Trevor Wolford, guitar, and Che Marshall, drums/vocalist/composer/songwriter.
Raised in a family with musical roots stretching back to the 60’s with Gold Records, Brenda Nicole Moorer is known for her distinctive vocal quality, original blend of modern jazz, soul, folk and thoughtful storytelling songwriting. Winner of the National Black Arts NEXT UP award for music, Brenda is building a name for herself one stage at a time. She has shared stages with Grammy-Winning artists like Christian McBride, Booker T Jones, Roy Ayers, and Incognito. She headlined the indie stage at Capital Jazz Festival, High Museum of Art, and Good Day Atlanta. Brenda has performed at notable venues like the Blue Note in New York, Rockwood Music Hall, and City Winery. Brenda released her third studio project in August 2020, a collaborative concept jazz record bringing together 20 Atlanta based artists. The album is co-written with pianist Kenny Banks Jr. and a band of talented Atlanta musicians including Che Marshall on drums, Trevor Wolford on guitar, Rhett Huffman on synths and organ, and Billy Thornton on bass. The music was produced by London based producer and composer Troy Miller who’s produced for Gregory Porter, Jacob Collier, Laura Mvula, Jamie Cullum.
