About the Artist

Amina Scott is an exceptionally talented bassist and composer. Growing up in a musically inclined family, with both her parents being music enthusiasts, she was exposed to a diverse range of musical genres, which greatly influenced her artistic development. Her interest in music peaked at an early age when her grandmother began giving her piano lessons. Currently based in New Orleans, LA, Amina Scott has been a bassist for many musicians on the New Orleans music scene, as well as abroad. Her
quintet is comprised of New Orleans based artists that have been making waves in the local music scene. Two members, saxophonist Gladney and drummer Peter Varnado, are both native New Orleanians. Pianist, Oscar Rossignoli, hails from Honduras and trumpeter, Stephen Lands, is from Baton Rouge, LA. All have spent countless years playing with and learning from New Orleans masters such as Nicholas Payton, Herlin Riley, Shannon Powell, Johnny Vidacovich, Jason Marsalis, and more to come together as a band and create a unique sound that blends music from around the diaspora. This can be heard on Amina's latest release 'Where the Wild Seed Grows'.
