Program Description

For nearly fifty years, the Southern Circuit has worked with Screening Partners to connect independent filmmakers with community audiences throughout the South for screenings and conversations around compelling stories, important topics, and the art of filmmaking. Screening Partners present screenings and host touring filmmakers, using independent film as a conduit for community connection and conversation. Southern Circuit Screening Partner organizations have included universities, community arts centers, municipalities, historic cinemas, museums, libraries, places of worship, and more, serving diverse audiences of all ages.

Southern Circuit prioritizes featuring Southern filmmakers and stories. We are committed to presenting films by filmmakers of color, LGBTQ+ filmmakers, and filmmakers with disabilities as well as filmmakers in every stage of their career including emerging and first-time filmmakers.

Southern Circuit is made possible through a partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
